This time, I’m sharing my all-time favorite spot for a crispy pork belly sandwich – something I always eat whenever I visit Denmark! It’s inside TorvehallerneKBH, so it’s also a great stop if you’re sightseeing.

Torvehallerne is a super popular food market for both locals and tourists, packed with fresh ingredients (produce, deli foods, etc.) and loads of food stands.
My go-to sandwich is sold in the corner of the butcher shop “SLAGTER LUND” inside the market – kind of like a burger-style sandwich!
Look for the sign that says “SANDWICH” in English. I usually visit Denmark right before Christmas, so the whole place is always packed with people.
Flæskesteg is Denmark’s version of roast pork and one of the country’s classic comfort foods. The best part is the super crispy crackling skin, and it’s also a traditional dish served on Christmas Eve.
And Flæskestegssandwich takes it to the next level: crispy roast pork plus rødkål (sweet-and-sour braised red cabbage), pickles, and Danish-style remoulade sauce – all in one perfect sandwich ↓
You can find this sandwich at different restaurants, but this one is my favorite – the pork is thick and incredibly juicy. I’m pretty sure the bun is brioche too: slightly sweet, soft, and super easy to eat.

I also tried their giant meatballs for the first time! When it comes to Nordic food, you can’t skip meatballs, right? Since it’s from a butcher shop, the meat was extra tasty and juicy – and the salad on the side was fresh and nicely balanced too!

⚠️ One quick note: the crackling on Danish roast pork can be extremely crispy and sometimes surprisingly hard – so be careful and don’t break a tooth 😅
