Studio Arhoj is a ceramic studio based in Copenhagen, Denmark.

Their pieces combine the playful, eye-featured designs often seen in Nordic ceramics with Asian-inspired glazes. Each item is handmade, and the subtle variations from piece to piece are part of the charm.

There were many Asian customers in the shop, and for a moment, I almost forgot I was in Denmark.

The spoons and small plates were colorful as well, available in various sizes.

To be honest, I’m not usually drawn to ceramics or glassware with printed cute eyes. I originally stopped by just to look for souvenirs, but I was happy to find that they also had many pieces without eyes – and that’s when I discovered a Slurp Cup that seemed perfect to use as our yunomi.

In addition to their beautiful appearance, the size feels just right, and when you hold the cup, you can sense its solid, well-made weight.
Another favorite detail is the base. Ceramic pieces often have a rough, unglazed bottom, but this one is completely smooth.

After bringing it home and using it, I noticed something.
The only slightly disappointing part was that, although I’m not very knowledgeable about ceramic materials, the cup felt quite thick, so I assumed it wouldn’t transfer heat easily. In reality, it became quite hot and wasn’t easy to hold right away.
As a nail technician who has worked with strong chemicals, I might be a bit sensitive to heat. Anders, on the other hand, said it was completely fine.
Even so, many Japanese yunomi remain comfortable to hold despite their thin appearance, which once again made me appreciate the craftsmanship behind them.
This is how we make our Nordic Life Colorful! Enjoy your day!
