Stora Henriksvik is a hidden café within walking distance from Hornstull station, where you can feel as if you’ve stepped into old Sweden. With its spacious garden and the nearby beach at Långholmen, it’s also a lovely spot for families with children.
🎼 A Small Historic Spot Connected to Bellman
Stora Henriksvik is also connected to Carl Michael Bellman, an 18th-century Swedish poet and composer who is an important figure in Stockholm’s cultural history.
During Bellman’s time, this place was called Lilla Sjötullen. It was where people arriving from Lake Mälaren paid a tax before bringing their goods to the market in The Old Town (Gamla Stan).
Today, there is a small Bellman exhibition beside the café and garden, so you can enjoy a little piece of Stockholm history together with your fika.
At the café, you can enjoy fika, light meals, baked goods, and drinks. During the harvest season, they also use vegetables, berries, and fruit from their garden in both food and drinks.
It feels a little like being invited to someone’s summer house. Even the entrance is charming!
👇 First, we ordered our food here. We had lunch with a pie and a sandwich, and then stayed for fika afterwards.
The Swedish direct sunlight is a bit too strong for my skin, so we chose a seat on the porch of the house, overlooking the garden.

I went for one of my usual choices at Swedish café lunches: a savory pie. This time, I had a spinach and cheese quiche.
And just to clarify, the thing near the corner of my eye is not eye gunk. I was trying to make my makeup look sparkly, but it just ended up looking a little strange.
☕️🥐 Next up: Fika!
Just from the shapes and golden-brown color, you could tell the baked goods were going to be good. And they really were. Everything was delicious.
The vegetables, berries, and fruit grown in this garden are sometimes used in the café’s food and drinks.
There is also a beach near the café at Långholmen, and it was full of children playing in the water.
After eating a little too much, we walked back through the forest.
